Karen Morgenstern
I was born and raised in Penticton, B.C. At that time it was a small rural community, nestled in the Sunny Okanagan Valley. A family of five, we spent most of our time outside. Weekends would find us backpacking, camping or picnicking. Sadly, I remember as a child hating the outdoors bitterly with its long hikes, late lunches, bugs, and dirty pit toilets. You could easily pick me out by my loud mumbling, grumbling, whining and complaining. Childhood seemed to last forever!
Surprisingly, I love the outdoors as an adult. Truly appreciating my upbringing and being exposed to so many outdoor activities such as fishing, backpacking, camping and canoeing. Today my favorite place to be is outside behind my Canon camera. I especially love the outdoor light and capturing moments that are unexpected and natural.
Home is on the Sunshine Coast. I can not imagine living anywhere else. Here we have so many parks and exciting places to explore. It feels like heaven on earth with our rugged coast line, boreal forests and beautiful beaches. Photography is fresh and new every day. I don't think I will ever become bored of heading out to photograph.
Thank you for taking the time to peek at my work. I hope you find it inspires and causes you to stop and think for a moment in time. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or just want to say hello :-)
Sincerely, Karen
